Jwalit Mehta and other VHP workers at Gujarat University Police station after arrest
Ahmedabad, 20 August 2013
Vishwa Hindu Parishad Chief Dr. Pravin Togadia was on fire on social media opposing the way Bajrang Dal, Amdavad convener Jwalit Mehta was picked up by Gujarat Police.
“Gujarat Police picks up Bajrang Dal city convener, Jwalit Mehta at 2.45 am in night before Raksha Bandhan, for demanding to stop Pakistani artists exhibition,” Togadia tweeted at around 4.00 am.
Togadia also tweeted the same addressing to Rajnath Singh’s official account @BJPRajnathSingh.
In reply to @anupam_3, Togadia said “Opposing Pakistani artists exhibition in Ahmedabad when Pakistan is killing our Army a crime? Bajrang Dal, VHP workers picked up by police for votes!
It should be mentioned here that Jwalit Mehta and other Bajrang Dal workers last week stormed a painting exhibition at ‘Amdavad ni Gufa’ art gallery where paintings of 11 Pakistani artists were exhibited.
A case was filed against Jwalit and others in this regard. Gujarat Unversity police has arrested nine including Jwalit Mehta in this case. Togadia it seems is upset with the manner in which the arrests took place – at 2.45 am and that too ahead of Raksha Bandhan which is one of the major festivals.
